JUN 10th & 11th: MobileMonday NY @ CEA’s Digital Downtown To Go

Event: MobileMonday NY @ CEA’s Digital Downtown To Go
Date: June 10th and 11th
Venue: 7 W 34th Street

MobileMonday NY is pleased to announce that we have entered into a media partnership agreement with Digital Downtown planned for this June 10th and 11th.  Downtown Digital is a two day conference/exhibit showcasing innovation, trends and just plain “cool” technology that is hosted by CEA (Consumer Electronics Association).  A major part of the show, Digital Downtown To Go is devoted to the burgeoning wireless industry. One part of the show floor is the Mobile Apps Lounge and Mobile Apps Shootout, where presenters have the opportunity to demo their applications for the press/analyst/media community.  Through our media partnership we have arranged a 10% off for Mobile Monday Members who wish to exhibit at Digital Downtown To Go  Mobile Apps Lounge and Shoot Out at CEALineShows/Digital Downtown.

As a participant you’ll get to:

  • Showcase your mobile app in the Mobile Apps Lounge. With a high traffic footprint, the Apps Lounge lets you demo your product to show attendees during show floor hours.
  • Participate in the June 11th Mobile Apps Shootout where the audience votes for the apps it finds most enriching. You’ll have 90 seconds to show your stuff in front of a live audience.

9:45-10:30 am: New Media Meets New Interfaces, New Gadgets
Whether you’re touching, tapping, gesturing, speaking, or even waving your mobile device over the bar code of an item you are interested in purchasing to get more information, there’s no denying that the wireless technology is changing how consumers interact with their gadgets and how their gadgets interact with the world around us. Lubna Dajani, Founder of Stratemerge and co-founder of Mobile Monday, NY moderates this cutting edge panel that looks at the enabling technologies and devices that are striving to take things to the next level

To Register: The registration form in on the Digital Downtown website Use the promo code, MobMon.  If you have any difficulties, please contact us or send email to Rachel Costello —

$74 Million in Mass. Mobile Investment in 6 Weeks

The last six weeks have been super active for investments in mobile and wireless companies in Massachusetts. Check out our roundup of the last 6 weeks below. There are two large deals here with $28 million raised by Lilliputian Systems and a $22 million acquisition.  But, there’s also an interesting segment (trend, perhaps?) of 4 smaller VC investments between $5 and $8 million.

Investment / Acquisition Roundup:

Ember, based in Boston, raised $8 million for Zigbee, their wireless mesh-networking chipsets.

Chelmsford-based Reva Systems raised $5 million for RFID infrastructure development.

Azuki Systems received $6 million to power rich media content on mobile devices.

Cambridge-based Virtual goods provider Viximo raised $5 million.

Acme Packet (from Burlington) has acquired Convergence (from Maynard) for $22.8 million.

Lilliputian Systems raised $28 million.

MyScreen Mobile joins growing South Florida mobile community

myscreen_071The latest addition to South Florida’s growing mobile ecosystem is MyScreen Mobile, a Toronto-based company whose patent-pending mobile marketing and advertising solution lets mobile subscribers receive reward compensation for allowing targeted full screen, contextual advertisements to appear on their mobile device at the end of a call.

MyScreen recently announced the appointment of a new CEO, Maurizio Angelone, the former head of Nokia Latin America who spearheaded the 2006 relocation to Miami of the global device maker’s regional headquarters. Angelone’s appointment heralds the relocation of other key members of the MyScreen senior management team to new Miami offices next month.

MyScreen’s permission- and incentive-based marketing model relies on delivery of full-screen targeted advertisements to a mobile handset at end of call. Subscribers opt-in to the service for free by providing basic demographic and lifestyle information and earn rewards for ads viewed.

Aside from detailed company information online at MyScreen, there’s also a very good bnet.TV interview and demo by VP Brian Field at the 2008 GSMA Asia Congress in Macau:

Azuki Systems receives funding

Azuki Systems, Inc., an innovator powering a new generation of mobile media, today announced that it has secured $6 million in additional equity financing. Original investors Sigma Partners and Kepha Partners, along with company executives, are participating in this round of funding.
