Richard Stone is Senior Solution Marketing Manager at Compuware, responsible for Mobile and Cloud-based Application Performance Management solutions.

The Dallas Entrepreneur Network (DEN) with MobileMonday Dallas will be hosting a Mobile Funding Forum on January 10th with follow up events February 21st and final event March 7th, 2011 that will include pitch presentations in front of a panel of investors that are seeking to fund life mobile companies. The event will be held at the Nokia Irving building in Room 121.

The program will focus on pitches from Mobile entrepreneurs in the Norh Texas region. DEN has assembled a panel of investors from around the state who will join other local investor groups to hear pitches. The panel will hear 5-10 deals, and each company will have 10 minutes to deliver their pitch.

What is Angel/VC investing
Angels are high net-worth individuals and venture capitalists seek to deploy funds in growth businesses in the hopes of a generating a return. Angels and VCs seek deals with strong management teams, a working product, and a large target market with attractive growth rates.

Who Should Apply?
Entrepreneurs who have developed a product/service and are in the market or about to go to market should consider applying. Those with seed stage concepts are typically too early for this type of funding.

Importance of pitching
Entrepreneurs need to be able to pitch deals effectively since they will have only 10 minutes or less to communicate the value of their business opportunity. For a 10 minute pitch, 10-15 slides are generally used. The pitch must focus not only on the product/service but also on the business itself including the management team, target market, competitive analysis, and how the funds will be used.

The mobile application marketplace is dominated by Apple’s App Store, but is the App Store the best model for corporations to distribute their mobile applications? Join Genuitec co-founder and vice president of product development, Wayne Parrott, and senior Eclipse developer, Greg Amerson, as they discuss the long term drawbacks of the App Store model and highlight the benefits of the Internet as the App Store of tomorrow. Alexander Muse
co-founded Big in Japan. Alexander is a serial entrepreneur with more than a decade of startup experience. He served as CEO of Architel, a provider of outsourced information technology services. Previously, he was founder and CEO of LayerOne, a ventured backed telecommunications infrastructure company he started in the late 1990’s.

Rylan Barnes
co-founded Big in Japan and is the lead developer of ShopSavvy, winner of Google’s Android Challenge (ADC I). Rylan started his career at HP. Since then he has worked as a consultant for Software Architects and as a software developer for Veritix.
